SBTI
History
Look
at our past and you will see
where we are going!
So many corporate histories begin with,
"From
humble beginnings," or with, "Our history begins with our ambitious
nature." But have you ever heard, "Out of necessity?"
Steve Zinkgraf was heavily involved in the flagship Six Sigma
deployment at Motorola during the late 1980’s and early
1990’s. From 1994 to 1996, Steve led the initial deployment
of
Six Sigma in AlliedSignal's (now Honeywell) Engineered Materials Sector
delivering large financial benefit in the program's first 12 months.
After leaving AlliedSignal, he started SBTI with a passion for
delivering results to make a difference in other companies. This
passion continues today.
Clearly, he had something special to offer. Upon departing AlliedSignal
he quickly began to add customers to his portfolio. One month after
opening his doors Polaroid became his first key client. In October of
that year, he added Invensys and their complete worldwide deployment
program through power systems. They were soon to be followed by a
number of clients in 1998 such as Johnson & Johnson, Paccar,
FMC,
Iomega, and OSRAM-Sylvania.
By November 1997 Steve understood that his position and his company had
changed. They were bigger than he could have imagined. In March of 1998
it became clear that the company was experiencing growing pains. It
needed a guiding hand to manage the internal operations and financial
management. With great confidence and excitement, Bill McCallick joined
the company and began to build the business process side of SBTI, a job
he still brings excellence to today.
The company opened its first office in San Marcos, Texas in 1998, and
recently moved to a larger building. Unfortunately, the need for space
in this expanding company is still growing. They opened a customer
support center, an internal training center, and began holding Master
Black Belt courses
in San Marcos all in 2000. Our continuing growth is a story that our
competitors can only envy.
Not content to offer a standard 'vanilla ice cream' version of Six
Sigma to all customers, Steve and his team began work on custom
courseware and deployment for varying types of customers and their
needs. Champion training, Executive and Leadership training, and
Project Management all enhanced the quality of the core products. SBTI
authored and built the industry standard Design for Six Sigma course
and launched it in March 1999. Others have modified their Six Sigma
programs and called them DFSS, but only SBTI built a program around the
finest team and learnings. SBTI's DFSS program is the only program of
its kind to take a product from conceptualization to commercialization.
The program is the benchmark in manufacturing industries. Since then
SBTI has added several new programs including Marketing, Supply Chain,
Chemical, Lean, Asset Dependability and many more.
In recent years SBTI has added long-term clients that have only added
to our 'reputation for excellence.' These include: Cummins Engine
Corp., American Standard, CSX, Entergy, 3M, and many more. We thank
them for their business and we salute them for being leaders in Six
Sigma.
How did we get this 'Reputation for Excellence?' It's simple. RESULTS!
We have gained all of our leading clients for our Six Sigma and Lean
deployment programs because of our results and our commitment to having
the best leaders, content, and deployment systems. As we move forward
to introducing SBTI to more clientele, we invite you to contact us and
learn more about us. We also invite you to learn about our most
important characteristic - OUR CAPABILITY.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about us - it's only
the beginning!
