Process Patent for Innovative Roadmap for Lean Product Development

November 29, 2007 - Sigma Breakthrough Technologies, Inc., an
international business process solutions consulting firm announced
today they were awarded a process patent for their innovative Roadmap
for Lean Product Development.
Sigma Breakthrough Technologies Incorporated (SBTI), a world-class,
10-year provider of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), was recently informed
that Joe Ficalora and Dr. Ian Wedgwood were awarded a process patent
for their innovative Roadmap for Lean Product Development. Lean Product
Development is a second generation of DFSS that incorporates key lean
principles to design out waste while designing in value from the Voice
of the Customer (VOC). Ficalora and Wedgwood collaborated on the Lean
Product Development roadmap and materials in an effort to take DFSS
‘up a notch’ and provide more value to their
customers.” Joe Ficalora, SBTI EVP of Technology had this to

for years in our Lean Six Sigma operations efforts that once waste gets
designed in, you cannot take it out after manufacturing begins. You can
reduce its impact, but ultimately you need to design out the waste.
